In cardiovascular applications, our protocol focuses on increasing the electric charge of RBCs to increase their zeta potential/improving viscosity. Increased RBC-Zeta Potential reduces whole blood viscosity, a major pathophysiological factor in cardiovascular disease (Figure 1). There are standardized methods for measuring zeta & whole blood viscosity that can be utilized in measuring the effectiveness of these protocols [5].
